Table Linens: Placemats
home4less | November 4, 2008
Though most table linens come in a coordinated collection with matching table cloths, placemats, and the like I usually avoid this. It could be that I enjoy the shopping process that much or I simply don’t like the overly monotonous nature of completely matching fabrics.
So, I’m still trying to decorate the tabletop of my dining table and though I’ve found some good table runners, it would probably be better to buy it with complementary placemats in mind for purchase.
I don’t really want to spend too much on the mats since I would have to buy six total for six place settings.
I found this Dansk Cafe Blanc bamboo placemat in keeping with the natural materials look. They are at $5.99 per mat and the description states that they are machine washable – an absolute must for dining.
Though I really like the look of this mat, my table is in a dark wood finish, and I would like a little more color in general to provide some contrast.
I like the modern feel of these faux leather placemats for $5.99, but the color selections are a bit lacking. They would eliminate the need to machine wash for stains since they can simply be wiped clean which sounds very convenient.
These Cimarron placemats are probably the most versatile in that they offer more color choices and have a bit of texture to them. As an added bonus, they are on sale for $3.49 currently. I like these mats so much I’d probably even go ahead and purchase the matching napkins if more of the color choices were in stock.
